The Role
We are looking for a full time or part time business services supervisor to work alongside and support the management team through our next phase of growth, and beyond.
An essential part of the role will be mentoring and reviewing the compliance work of more junior team members. It will also involve building relationships with a variety of clients.
There is scope for involvement in preparing complex compliance work and development of business advisory skills for candidates with the appropriate skills wishing to have this exposure.
There are also opportunities for career progression for candidates seeking to grow beyond supervisor level who possess the relevant experience, qualities and drive.
Background and experience
The right candidate for this role will ideally have:
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency;
- CA qualified;
- 5+ years of experience in an Australian CA or CPA accounting firm (ideally in business services);
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications, Xero and XPM, MYOB and other relevant software;
- Extensive experience in:
- Preparing all types of compliance work including financial statements and income tax returns for all entity types and activities; IAS, BAS, FBT, STP, Payroll Tax annual reconciliations, and Workers Compensation wage declarations;
- Dealing with more complex types of income, business activities and investments; and
- Communicating directly with clients and other external contacts on a regular basis.
- A comprehensive knowledge of:
- Income tax concepts for individuals and small-medium businesses and investment entities;
- Superannuation concepts and Self-managed superannuation funds;
- GST, PAYG Withholding, PAYG Income tax instalments; and
- Common fringe benefits and how to treat them.
- Knowledge and experience in some or all of the following areas is ideal but not required:
- International income tax and GST issues;
- Structuring considerations for new and existing businesses;
- Tax planning for individuals and businesses; and
- Analysing business’ financial performance and advising on areas for improvement.
